PSU squeel

Postby [RS]Narziss » Wed Oct 26, 2011 12:44 pm

I seem to have a high pitched squeel coming from my PSU when I move my mouse.... Any thoughts?

The ONLY thing I can think of .. Is that as you move your mouse it causes the PC to pull more power from the PSU.. Which might in turn automatically increase fan speed.. Which might have a faulty bearing.....

I am really reaching with this btw! :P

All of the above, its normally related to a half dead cap in the psu I would pop the top off the psi and look (don't touch) to see if any of them are bulging.

Cheers for the replies folks.

It's a Corsair 620 that I bought in 07.

Well my BF3 holiday didn't go as planned with all the component checking I had to do after nuumerous blue screens. Snapper and I swapped out most of the hardware and it seems to be narrowed down to the PSU, so I've ordered a new one. Just as well as that squeek is doing my nut in! I'll try and RMA the old one and then flog it if Corsair are kind enough to give me a new one.

regarding your BSOD..

I've been getting them about once every 2-3weeks, only since I put in the SSD

Am I right in thinking you have the same SSD as Narz, Nick?

I'm pretty sure, when he was here, that we tried without the SSD installed and it still BSOD'd so hopefully his new PSU will sort it.

If not, at least his PC won't sound like a stuck pig anymore
